Olivier Zendra

Dr Olivier ZENDRA is a tenured researcher at INRIA, the main institute dedicated to research in computer science and engineering in France. He got his PhD degree in Computer Science with highest honors in 2000 in the area of program optimization and compilation. He has a strong experience in research in memory management, program analysis and optimization, compilation, impact of the hardware-software interface on performance, energy issues in software, program visualization, and cybersecurity. He has been Principal Investigator in two ANR-funded national French projects and partners in several more, and he is the Coordinator for the EU H2020 project TeamPlay on adding non-functional properties to IT systems. He co-advised 4 successful PhD theses in these domains, and is currently co-advising 2 others. He was a key designer and implementer of SmartEiffel, The GNU Eiffel Compiler, and a member of the NICE Eiffel language standardisation consortium. He has designed and developed or supervised the design and development of numerous research prototypes, including the software platform of the Open-PEOPLE (Open-Power and Energy Optimization PLatform and Estimator) project, SPECO (Software Platform for the Evaluation of Compilation Optimizations), OPCIM (Open-PEOPLE Continuous Integration Mechanism), VITRAIL (Advanced ReaL-Time Immersive VIsualisation of Software) and JbinsTrace (Java Bytecode instrumentation and Tracing, aka VITRAIL Tracer). He is a founder of the ICOOOLPS series of workshops. He has been a reviewer for many conferences and journals (including AMAST, ARCS, CASSIS, CIEL, ECOOP, ETFA, ICOOOLPS, ICSE, IES, IPDPS, JEC, JFLA, JISE, LMO, MSR, PECCS, RTNES, RTS, TOOLS, TSI, SAC-OSAA, SPE…), a member of many conference organizing and program committees (AMBIANT, CC, CIEL, DASIP, ECOOP, ETR, ICOOOLPS, JFLA, LMO, PECCS, RESoLVE) and a member of many PhD juries. He his a member of of several National French research networks, a full member of HiPEAC (the European Network of Excellence, now Coordination and Support Action, on High Performance and Embedded Architecture and Compilation), a member of the HiPEAC Steering Committee, a member of the Editorial Board of the HiPEAC Vision and a contributor to the HiPEAC Vision. He is a scientific expert and reviewer for: the French Ministry of Research, the main French funding agency for research the National Research Agency (ANR), the main research institution in France the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), the Brittany region Cyber Security Pole (PEC), and internationally for COFECUB (Brasil), FQRNT (Canada) and FWF (Austria). He became leader of the TAMIS cybersecurity team of INRIA Rennes in October 2018 and joined the software engineering team DiverSE in October 2020.
