Xavier Salazar Forn

Xavier Salazar joined EGI Foundation in July 2022 as Senior Strategy and Innovation Officer, after more than 15 year as innovation, strategy support, project manager and business developer in both industry and public sectors. EGI operates the largest federated cloud-computing environment in Europe available for scientific research. EGI Services are currently being extended to offer seamless access across the whole compute continuum and AI-capabilities to address the growing data-processing challenges of major scientific experiments over the next decade. Xavier Salazar is in charge of ensuring technological developments in projects are translated into new and improved services, products, technologies and further research opportunities for scientific communities. Prior to joining EGI, Xavier Salazar was at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, where he was involved in over 30 EU R&D projects, Networks of Excellence and Coordinated and Support Actions in Advanced Computing topics from HPC to Edge and from End Applications to Hardware Co-Design. He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering by UPC and an MSc in Economics of Innovation by Chalmers University and has been UNITECH International grant holder and fellow and has been HiPEAC staff member for more than 6-7 years.
