David Moloney is the CTO and founder of Movidius Ltd. David is a technologist and Entrepreneur with 28 years international experience in the semiconductor industry bringing new technologies from concept to commercial products in multinationals and start-ups, raising funding independently where necessary.
He has an excellent record in the development of and protection of intellectual property with 17 granted US patents and many others in process. He has published 5 conference and 3 international journal papers and has acted as a reviewer for IEEE communications magazine. He has participated in two FP7 research projects including PEPPHER and EXCESS which is ongoing, and has active research relationships with David Gregg in TCD, Alistair Sutherland in DCU, Chris Bleakley in UCD, Ronan Farrell in Maynooth and Nicholas Devaney in Galway, Paolo Favaro in Bern and Luca Benini in ETH.
David is very experienced in the recruitment and development from ground up of engineering teams in Ireland and abroad and in the management of multinational development teams developing products for customers worldwide. He has a strong track record in working with sales, marketing and executive management. He also has strong links in the VC community having contributed significantly to a successful IPO (Parthus), 2 mergers (Parthus-Ceva and FrontierSilicon-Silansys) a successful trade-sale (Silansys-Frontier) as well as 5 funding rounds (Seed + A-D) in Movidius.
