I am an Associate Professor (Senior Lecturer) in Cyber Security at University College Cork (UCC), Ireland. I hold a PhD in Cryptography from the Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain) in Belgium. Prior to joining UCC in 2017, I was a Lecturer in the UK (Bournemouth and Cranfield), and a Postdoctoral Researcher in Delft University of Technology (TUDelft), The Netherlands.
I am a Principal Investigator and co-Investigator in a number of research projects funded by the EU Horizon Europe, Science Foundation Ireland (SFI), Enterprise Ireland, and the Disruptive Technologies Innovation Fund. I am a Funded Investigator in two national SFI Research Centres (CONNECT, on Future Networks and Communications, and Insight on Data Analytics). I am also a Supervisor in two SFI Centres for Research Training (ADVANCE and AI).
My research work focuses on cryptography, privacy and anonymity. My research interests include secure computation, privacy-enhancing technologies, anonymity protocols, location privacy and smart cities. In particular, I have significant track record in homomorphic encryption, hash-based probabilistic data structures, approximated cryptographic primitives and security for approximate computing.
