Dr. Kaeli is the Director of the Northeastern University Computer Architecture Research Laboratory (NUCAR). He serves as a Project Leader in the NIEHS The Puerto Rico Testsite for Exploring Contamination Threats (PROTECT) Center. He served as a Research Thrust Leader for the NSF Center for Subsurface Sensing and Imaging Systems (CenSSIS) .
His research looks at the performance and design of high-performance computer systems and software. Current research topics include: profile-guided compilation, high-ILP microarchitectures, GPUs, architectural features for security, virtualization, power modeling, database systems, branch prediction studies, workload characterization, memory hierarchy design, embedded systems design and software testing. He frequently provides tutorials on the subjects of Profiling and Instrumentation and Trace-Driven Simulation.
Prof. Kaeli is a Fellow of the IEEE and a Distinguished Scientist of the ACM. He previously served as Chair of the IEEE Technical Committee on Computer Architecture, as a Member-at-Large for ACM SIGMicro, and on CRA’s Computing Community Consortium for 3 years. He presently serves as an Associate Editor for ACM Transactions on Architecture and Code Optimization, IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems and the Elsevier Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing. Previously, he has served as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Computers and and IEEE Computer Architecture. He is a member of the Eta Kappa Nu honor society.
