Francesco Conti

Dr. Francesco Conti is Assistant Professor with the Department of Electrical, Electronic, and Information Engineering (DEI) of the University of Bologna, Italy. He received the Ph.D. degree in electronic engineering from the University of Bologna, Italy, in 2016 and has been a Post-Doctoral Researcher with the Integrated Systems Laboratory, Digital Systems Group, ETH Zürich from 2016 to 2020. Dr. Conti’s research is focused on novel hardware architecture, software techniques and algorithms to enable Deep Learning-based intelligence on top of “TinyML” ultra-low power and highly energy efficient programmable systems-on-chip. He is also active in the field of applications of TinyML hardware, such as robotics and UAVs, human-machine interface, and AI-enhanced digital industry. He has been a member of the PULP Platform project team since 2014, contributing to 10+ successful SoC tapeouts and focusing on hardware acceleration. He serves as Associate Editor for IEEE TCAD and TPC member at TinyML Summit, SAMOS, and DATE conferences. His research work has resulted more than 60 publications in international conferences and journals and has been awarded several times, including (as corresponding author) the 2020 IEEE TCAS-I Darlington Best Paper Award, the 2018 HiPEAC Technology Transfer Award, the 2018 IEEE CODES+ISSS Best Paper Award, and the 2014 IEEE ASAP Best Paper Award.
