Clemens Grelck

Clemens Grelck is a (full) Professor at Friedrich Schiller University Jena in Germany, where he leads the System Software research group. Previously, he was an Associate Professor in the Parallel Computing Systems Group at the University of Amsterdam, Netherlands. He obtained his PhD in 2001 from the University of Kiel, Germany, and held academic positions at the Universities of Kiel and Lübeck in Germany as well as the University of Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom. Clemens’ research interests are in the areas of high-level, parallel programming, the design of advanced (declarative) programming languages and concepts and their efficient implementation on today’s ubiquitous parallel systems through highly optimising compilers and adaptive runtime systems as well as resource-aware computing, cyber-physical systems, etc.

Clemens leads all activities around the declarative coordination language TeamPlay for resource-aware computing and co-leads the development of the functional array programming language SAC (Single Assignment C) . Clemens actively participated in the EU collaborative projects AETHER, Apple-CORE, ADVANCE, TeamPlay and ADMORPH, the Erasmus+ projects 3COWS and SusTrainable as well as the COST Actions TACLE, CHiPset and CERCIRAS.
