The Summer School on Advanced Computer Architecture and Compilation for High-performance Embedded Systems (ACACES) is returning to Fiuggi on 13-19 July for a week of courses by world-class computing experts.
The programme offers a range of courses covering the computing continuum from edge to cloud to high-performance computing, covering paradigms and platforms including quantum, in-memory computing and RISC-V, and providing perspectives on topics such as robustness, security, sustainability, among others.
This year’s courses are as follows:
- From edge to HPC and back: Programming the computing continuum for scientific applications – Nicola Ferrier, Argonne National Laboratory
- Robust systems in the 21st century – Subhasish Mitra, Stanford University
- Trust, threat, and AI: Security challenges in generative and collaborative learning – Ahmad-Reza Sadeghi, TU Darmstadt
- A modern perspective on the role and design of operating systems – Timothy Roscoe, ETH Zurich
- Chameleon: Research infrastructure in edge to cloud continuum – Kate Keahey, Argonne National Laboratory / University of Chicago and Michael Sherman, University of Chicago
- Dataflow-based modelling and design – Shuvra Bhattacharyya, University of Maryland
- Entrepreneurship: From idea to unicorn – Wim De Wispelaere, Ghent University
- In-memory computing for AI acceleration – Irem Boybat, IBM Research Zurich
- Toward sustainable computing – Adrian Friday, Lancaster University
- Designing RISC-V energy-efficient edge-node system-on-chips – Pasquale Davide Schiavone, ETH Zurich
- Prompt engineering: Leveraging large language models – Maximillian Moundas, Vanderbilt University
- Quantum computing: From software, architecture, and systems perspective – Poulami Das, University of Texas at Austin
The summer school will be kicked off by a technical keynote talk by Jan Rabaey (UC Berkeley) titled ‘The “compute continuum” and its energetics’. On Monday night, there will be an entrepreneurial keynote talk.
