CONNECT University session: Next Computing Paradigm - HiPEAC Vision 2024

On Friday, 10 November from 14:30-16:00 CET, join Marc Duranton, editor in chief of the HiPEAC Vision, and Koen De Bosschere, coordinator of the HiPEAC project for the inaugural presentation of the HiPEAC Vision 2024, hosted by the European Commission’s CONNECT University.

What comes after cyber-physical systems (CPS), the cloud, the internet of things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and the continuum of computing?

The HiPEAC Vision 2024 will explore the ‘next computing paradigm’: a concept that takes elements of all these previous trends and synergizes them into a new, coherent, intelligent, federated and trustable computing paradigm.

Like CPS, this new computing paradigm will interact with the real world, so it must be able to cope with constraints related to time, safety, etc. It will distribute processing where it is most efficient, allowing the movement not only of data but also of programs; it will be trustable for the user (whether private or enterprise); and it will use AI to help orchestrate the full range of services and digital twins with natural (human-centric) interfaces. Intelligent orchestrators will be able to cooperate and request remote services when local ones are no longer sufficient to fulfil the user’s requests.

The previous edition of the HiPEAC Vision analysed multiple races in the computing field, in the context of innovation at an ever-increasing pace. These include the race for ever more powerful AI, the race for new hardware and heterogeneity, the race for cybersecurity, and the race for sustainability. The HiPEAC Vision 2024 will reinterpret the concept of these races of the previous edition through the lens of the ‘next computing paradigm’.

Join HiPEAC along with officials from the European Commission for this informative session, the first glimpse of the HiPEAC Vision 2024, hosted by CONNECT University.
