According to the European Commission, “it is estimated that there will be 500,000 unfilled vacancies for ICT professionals by 2020”. Within HiPEAC we are actively working to fill this gap by promoting European career opportunities and stimulating interest in both undergraduate and postgraduate students to pursue their technological vocations in research and development.
To this end, we created the STEM student day at the HiPEAC conference, where undergraduate, master’s and PhD students attend one day of the conference for free. The conference programme and large panel of associated events offer a unique opportunity to connect with researchers and engineers from both academia and industry, as well as acting as a platform for future generations to learn about opportunities.
After the success of the first year, the second edition of the STEM day will take place on Tuesday, 22 January at Valencia Conference Centre.
This year, the STEM day programme offers participants the chance to see the interesting keynote talk by Alberto Sangiovanni-Vincentelli, University of California, Berkeley, “Reflections on Innovation Ecosystems: My Journey from Theory Research to 27 Billion USD”, a guided tour to HiPEAC’s exhibition (including our main sponsors DeepMind and Arm), presentation of the jobs wall along with a career question and answer session by HiPEAC’s officer for recruitment support, as well as the chance to attend the industrial session in the afternoon.
Attendance is limited to 25 students who will be confirmed on a first come, first served basis. Don’t miss this opportunity - apply now by completing the following registration form.
