3D Decision Support Tool for Brain Tumor Surgery

Digital diagnostics play a crucial role in assisting complex medical procedures across various anatomies, including brain tumour surgery. Neurosurgeons encounter challenges such as distinguishing critical tissue from tumour margins and interpreting data from multiple devices. In this context, the EU-funded STRATUM project, which is partially a follow-up of the EU projects HELICoiD and Human Brain Project, aims to develop a 3D Decision-Support Tool for brain surgery guidance and diagnostics using AI algorithms. The project will employ a co-creation methodology, striving to advance personalised medicine, enhance the accuracy of brain tumour diagnosis during surgery, and reduce surgical duration. Additionally, it will enhance the cost and energy efficiency of neurosurgical workflows and validate the prototype through a two-year clinical study.
