The EU-funded Center of Excellence for Exascale CFD (CEEC) specializes in the area of numerical simulations for turbulence. Using computer simulation has become an increasingly common tool for developing advanced products such as aircraft. Anyone who has ever flown knows that there can be turbulence, air currents that spin and twist with varying strength and direction. Today there are methods to calculate this seemingly unpredictable phenomenon, but they are complex and require a lot of computing power. Exascale computing offers such supercomputer performance.
