Tailoring patient treatment so it is as individualised as the disease is at the heart of personalised medicine, which combines clinical and omics information. But there is still a long way to go before personalised medicine really thrives. For instance, current simulation software is insufficient to tackle medical problems like tumour evolution or patient-specific treatments. The EU-funded PerMedCoE project will provide an efficient and sustainable entry point to the new European High-Performance Computing (HPC) and exascale computing systems, in order to translate omics analyses into actionable models. The project’s main aim is to optimise four applications for cell-level simulations. It will also offer access to HPC/exascale-adapted and optimised software in order to integrate PerMed into the new European HPC/exascale ecosystem.
