Codasip began as a research project in 2004 at the Brno University of Technology (vutbr.cz). After initial research and a proof of concept it was spun out into an incubator (ApS Brno Ltd.) in 2006 where the technology was further developed and matured. In early 2014 Codasip, Ltd. began operation as a venture backed startup and is headquartered in Brno, Czech Republic.
Codasip’s focus is on delivering leading edge IP and EDA tools to simplify adoption of Application Specific Instruction Set Processors (ASIP’s). ASIP’s utilize dedicated instructions to accelerate software and are at the heart of applications that require very high performance with low power. ASIPs are critical to many emerging technology areas such as IoT and healthcare, and Codasip’s unique approach makes them accessible to any design team.
This accessibility is achieved by ensuring designers need only write a single high-level description of an ASIP and from this automatically synthesize the design’s RTL, testbench, virtual platform models and processor toolchain (compiler, debugger, profiler, etc). The combination of highly automated ASIP tools and pre-verified extensible processor IPs, delivers the power of ASIP technology with the ease of use of standard embedded processor cores.
