Niels Nes is a recognized pioneer in column-store database technology. A co-founder of MonetDB Solutions, he has been a technical advisor to the company since its inception in 2013. For more than 27 years, he has been one of the driving forces behind the open-source database system MonetDB, the company’s core product.

MonetDB Solutions has also announced that Sjoerd Mullender will succeed Niels Nes as chief technology officer (CTO) at MonetDB.
Mullender is also a co-founder of MonetDB Solutions, and has been the company’s certified quality auditor (CQA) for years. For 20 years, Sjoerd has worked on the technology used in MonetDB and has made many improvements to increase its performance and reliability.
