Chalmers University of Technology announces

a Post Doctor Position

in the field of Computer Architecture

at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering

Application deadline April 17, 2009

The Division of Computer Engineering within the Department of Computer
Science and Engineering announces a post doctor position in computer
architecture. The research within the division centers on computer
architecture, VLSI design, and computer graphics. The High-Performance
Computer Architecture Group is conducting research on design principles for
the next generations of mainstream as well as embedded high-performance
computers. To ease the programming task and yet achieve a high computational
performance at the highest possible energy efficiency are important
objectives in this very active field. The group has a solid track record in
researching design principles of parallel computers; a current focus is on
multi-core computers.

The group participates in the HiPEAC European Network of Excellence as a
partner and in two European projects that focus on multi-core architectures.
A driving theme regards the definition and implementation of new
hardware/software interfaces to ease the task of designing software for
exploiting the computational performance of multi-core computers.

Aim of work

The candidate is expected to do independent research in the area of
high-performance computer architecture that is of relevance to the
mainstream direction towards multi-core architectures. The candidate is also
expected to enrich the research in the group by participating in seminar
series, give advice and mentor PhD students in the group. Finally, the
candidate is expected to also carry out departmental duties corresponding to
25% of his/her time.

Applicants shall have a PhD Degree in Computer Science, Computer
Engineering, or Electrical Engineering with a PhD thesis in the area of
Computer Architecture or in a closely related field.

In order to improve gender balance, Chalmers particularly welcomes
applications from female candidates.

Details about employment
