The PARIS research group at Ghent University has received a 4-year
grant from the Fund for Scientific Research - Flanders (Belgium) to do
joint research with IMEC into the use of compiler technology to work
around memory defects caused by process variability. The ultimate goal
of this research is to improve the processor fabrication yield by
including compiler capabilities in the validation and testing process.
A more detailed description of the project can be found in http://www.elis.ugent.be/~brdsutte/PhDVAPOR_eng.pdf
.

For this project we now invite PhD (or postdoc) applications. We offer
a 4-year position (possibly extensible), starting 1 Jan 2009 in the
PARIS (Parallel Information Systems) research group at the Engineering
Faculty of Ghent University. This group, from which Prof. De Bosschere
coordinates the HIPEAC2 European Network of Excellence, performs
research into hardware/software codedesign, and into the software/
hardware interface (compilers and computer architecture). As such this
position offers the ability to participate in the HIPEAC2 network. For
more information on how to apply and on this position, contact prof.
Bjorn De Sutter at bjorn.desutter at elis.ugent.be.
