--------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Keynote talk

We are happy to announce that Koen de Bosschere will give a keynote talk
at SCOPES 2008. His talk will be about Memory footprint reduction for
embedded systems and will take place from 10.30 - 12.00 o'clock on
   Friday, March 14th.

Koen currently is professor in the PARIS research group of the ELIS
Department at the Universiteit Gent, Belgium. His current research
interests include computer architecture, system software and code
optimization. In addition, he is the coordinator of the ACES research
network and of the European HiPEAC2 network.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Advance programme

As the outcome of a careful review process, the SCOPES program committee
has selected eight excellent papers for presentation at SCOPES 2008.

The technical presentations of this year's SCOPES cover the areas
    - Optimization and code generation for embedded processors
    - Memory- and addressing-aware compilation and
    - Validation and simulation

The entire advance programme is also available on-line via
   www.scopesconf.org.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Social event

In 2008, SCOPES will start with a social event taking place in the
evening
of March 13th. Starting SCOPES with a social event will create a very
interactive atmosphere right at the beginning of the workshop so that
attendees can get in contact with each other and can have fruitful
informal discussions independent of the technical presentations.

It is foreseen to have a Pre-Workshop Dinner with a hot and cold buffet
as
social event. We plan to have the dinner at the Bierstueberl part of the
main restaurant of the ICM conference centre, leading to short ways
within
ICM for all those SCOPES attendees also attending the DATE conference on
   Thursday, March 13th.

The SCOPES dinner is free of charge for all registered SCOPES attendees.
All attendees are invited to join us and to benefit from the informal
discussions and the casual atmosphere within our community.

Since not yet all details of the SCOPES social event are fixed, please
stay
tuned and check the SCOPES website regularly for further information.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. Early registration

Registrations for SCOPES 2008 before February 20th fall into the early
registration period. For early registrations within this period, a
reduced
workshop fee of only 134 EUR is due. After February 20th, the full
workshop fee of 170 EUR is due.

Since SCOPES 2008 is held as DATE Friday Workshop, the entire
registration
procedure for SCOPES is also managed by DATE. Hence, follow the link to
the DATE registration page provided on www.scopesconf.org to register for
   SCOPES 2008.
