I am pleased to attach you information on the contest to cover THREE (3) 
research grants (fellow positions) in the Computer Architecture and 
Operating Systems Department (CAOS) of the University Autonoma of 
Barcelona (UAB), for the purpose of preparing the doctoral theses (PhD 
degree), so you can provide it to anyone who might be interested. 
The information on the global announcement by the UAB,  85 predoctoral 
research grants for staff in training (among which are the 
aforementioned 3) including the application process, is available, in 
trilingual version (Spanish, English and Catalan) in the website of the 
University Autonoma of Barcelona (www.uab.es)

The rules, that can be obtained in the website of our university, are 
included, as attached document in this mail, for your convenience (Call 
for Applications 2008)

The DEADLINE to send APPLICATIONS is next April 18th.
The details on the research grants (fellowships) announced by our 
Department are included at the END of this mail ( DACSO-CAOS FELLOWSHIPS

DACSO-CAOS FELLOWSHIPS 2008

Specific information on the research grants (fellowships) corresponding 
to the Computer Architecture and Operating Systems (CAOS) Department.

1- Six  research grants (fellowships) are announced, with a generic 
profile on: Computer Architecture and Technology - High Performance 
Computing

2- Application: When you get to the PROCESS TO FORMALIZE THE FELLOWSHIP 
APPLICATION, and at the beginning of the process, you must choose the 
Computer Architecture and Operating Systems Department.
Access to the Grant Application Form is sometimes a bit slow, so you 
will have to be a bit patient.

3- Applicants must be pre-registered for one or the official master's 
degree of our department: "High Performance Computing" or "Computational 
Science and Engineering".

In principle the High Performance Computing Master, due to its research 
guidance, is the one that should be chosen to realize preenrollement 
(pre-registration), nevertheless, those candidates that might be 
interested in the Computational Science and Engineering Master, can 
realize preenrollement in it.

4- The research subjects to which chosen candidates would be assigned, 
would be among the following:
o Video on Demand (VoD) and Resource Management
o Analysis and Performance Tuning in Parallel Systems /Automatic 
Performance Evaluation and Improvement in Parallel Systems
o Cluster Computing
o Individual Oriented Simulation
