Description:
ARM is exploring the challenges associated with many-core systems in the embedded space. We have a platform with 96 Cortex-M1 cores integrated on an FPGA along with the associated performance measuring infrastructure. This platform can be used to explore the emerging software programming paradigms for many-core systems. The internship aims to:-
- Evaluate the power efficiency of the system against similar implementation on current multi-core processor systems
- Compare state of the art AMBA with NoC in terms of performance and energy efficiency
- Explore message passing interfaces protrocals for effective communcation between processing elements
Requirements:
- Research interest in Multi-core and Many-core systems
- Good understanding of embedded processors and peripherals
- RTL design, simulation and synthesis with good understanding of FPGA (Xilinx) design flow
- Experience with compilers, assembler and development boards
- Programming languages: Verilog, Perl, TCL, C & ARM assembly
