Barcelona Meeting (June 2008)
Barcelona Meeting
Firstly, congratulations to Grigori Fursin, Paul Kelly and Anton Lokhmotov who are the first people to receive funding from any of the HiPEAC2 clusters! Their work looks at optimisation and run-time adaptation of sequential libraries for multi-core systems and more information can be found here. However, there's plenty of money still available and we want to give away more of the 15,000 euro budget as soon as possible to fund your research.
Our 2nd meeting was on Tuesday 3rd June. This page summarises the meeting and provides links to the slides and funding opportunities. See Mike's slides for more information on the funding opportunities available.
Talks
David Bernstein from IBM gave an industrial perspective on the key challenges for compiler research and the areas that IBM are interested in. We also had talks from the following people:
- Anton Lokhmotov
- Sean Rul
- Giorgos Goumas
- Olivier Zendra
- Mikel Lujan
- José Herrero
- Andy Nisbet
HiPEAC Funding
There are two types of HiPEAC funding available. This either comes direct from this cluster or through the HiPEAC PhD collaboration grants:
- Cluster funding. See our last call, but you can apply anytime.
- PhD collaboration grants. I'll add a link once the web page is set up.
EU Funding
There are 3 main areas and we'll set up email lists for people to discuss their interests and get together. Please email me (tjones1@inf.ed.ac.uk) or Mike (mob@inf.ed.ac.uk) if you want to be added to a list, which I will set up soon.
