Description:

The "Scalable System Architectures" Cluster (with 11 members)
had a highly successful first meeting in Ghent on 11 May 2005.
Attendance varied among the four sessions during the
the day, but its peak was 15 members. The topics discussed
appear at http://escher.elis.ugent.be/hipeac/node/94
The next activities will be:
* Meeting among some members during the HiPEAC Summer School;
* Continued scientific transactions/discussions, plus some
student exchanges at some later point in the future.

This Cluster had origianlly applied for funding for a couple
of meetings (20 KEuro); only 10 KEuro out of that were approved
in Dec. 2004, "enough for the first meeting".
We do not currently know (it is not easy to know, given the
current accounting mode) how much of that original 10 KEuro
fund was spent for this first Cluster meeting in Ghent, and
how much (if any) remains for future Cluster activities;
this application conservatively assumes that little of that
original funding remains.

Description of how the funding will be used:

This additional funding of 5 KEuro is to cover the participation
of 2 to 4 of the Cluster members to the HiPEAC Summer School
(registration plus travel). The members that will participate for
sure are Nacho Navarro (UPC) and Manolis Katevenis (FORTH);
Jose Duato (UPV) is also coming, but his expenses are probably
charged elsewhere (travel too?); others are also likely to come,
but it is unclear to me (MK) whether their expenses need to be
charged to this Cluster.
