HiPEAC mission

HiPEAC's mission is to
  • steer and increase the European research in the area of high-performance and embedded computing systems.
  • stimulate cooperation between
    • academia and industry
    • computer architects and tool builders

Research coordination in HiPEAC is done in 13 clusters/task forces, each dealing with a specific part of the HiPEAC research agenda. Clusters are formed by researchers from industry and academia interested in the topic of the cluster. Clusters continuously update their research agenda, and steer the European research by deciding on which challenges to tackle and by coordinating the research efforts of the cluster members. The 13 research clusters/task forces are:

  1. Multi-core architecture
  2. Programming models and operating systems
  3. Adaptive compilation
  4. Interconnects
  5. Reconfigurable computing
  6. Design methodology and tools
  7. Binary translation and virtualization
  8. Simulation platform
  9. Compilation platform
  10. Task force on low power
  11. Task force on reliability
  12. Task force on applications
  13. Task force on education

Collaboration and networking between member institutions and across the different disciplines: computer architects, design tool builders, compiler builders, system designers, between researchers from academia and industry, between European and non-European institutions. This collaboration between best of breed must lead to more European excellence in the HiPEAC domain. Collaboration and networking is stimulated by means of the various networking events, and the small collaboration incentives like collaboration grants, mini-sabbaticals, internships, ...

Valorisation of research results in the form of highly visible publications and commercialization of research results by existing companies or by newly created companies. The goal is to help companies to achieve world-leading positions in the computing systems and computing products, and to further increase Europe’s worldwide visibility in the HiPEAC domain via the HiPEAC conference, the ACACES summer school, the HiPEAC journal, a newsletter, a website, seminars, technical reports, workshops, and awards.

Membership. HiPEAC is an open network. This means that all activities are open to the public. Active professionals in the domain of high-performance and embedded computing systems can apply for HiPEAC membership. Members are automatically kept updated on the activities of the network, and they are entitled to draw on the resources of the network (internships, collaboration grants, summer school grants, conference grants, mini-sabbaticals, ...). Members can affiliate their colleagues and PhD-students to the network. New members are proposed by HiPEAC partners. Hence, if you want to apply for membership, contact one of the partners.
