Format and layout your text

There are three available input formats you can choose between at the bottom of each submit page:

  • Plaintext
    • Just enter the text you want to see on the page you are creating. Optionally, it is possible to add simple HTML-tags to markup your text (make some text bold, underline it, etc...).
  • Full HTML
    • All HTML-tags are enabled, so you can write a whole HTML-page. Unlike in the plaintext format, you explicitly have to use <p>-tags or <br />-tags to create new lines or paragraphs.
  • WikiText
    • Use the simple Wiki-syntax (bottom of the page) to create links, titles, tables, images, etc...

Notice that below many textareas the link 'enable rich-text' is shown. Clicking this link converts the HTML you have allready entered to rich text and brings up buttons to edit it. The buttons have similar functions as the ones used in normal text editors. This editor can be used to simplify the generation of HTML-content (so don't use it if the text is written in the Wiki-syntax!).  Some warnings about using the rich text editor:

  • A plaintext text (no HTML-tags used to separate paragraphs) will be converted to one large, single paragraph when the editor is enabled.
  • Copy/pasting of text that has allready been formatted by an other application (eg. text from a Word document) can add hidden tags that could give errors when submitting. To be sure: disable the editor before submitting to check the generated HTML.
  • As for these problems, although the rich text editor can be very handy to quickly write a text, it is strongly recommended to disable it by default (see setting at 'my account').
