Getting to Pisa by flight
Pisa international airport is the Galileo Galilei airport with daily flights to major Italian and European cities, including Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, Cologne, Frankfurt, Munich, London, Paris, Madrid, Oslo, Vienna. Three daily flights connect the Pisa Airport with the largest international airport in Italy, Roma Fiumicino and three daily flights connect with Paris International Airport.
A train shuttle is available from/to Florence railway station (Santa Maria Novella). The airport is on the outskirts of the town, approximately 3 km south from the center. The most convenient way to directy reach the center is probably by taxi. Taxis are located near the “Arrivals” exit of the air terminal. For non-stop radio taxi service call +39 050 541600. Getting to the city centre from the airport should take around 10 minutes. Trains zip you downtown to the central train station in 5 minutes. Buy the train ticket inside the airport, at the Trenitalia counter and remember to stamp it at the small yellow machines at the train platforms. Alternatively, take the the LAM Rossa bus to get to “Piazza della Stazione” (Railway Station square).

Getting to Pisa by train
Get off at Pisa Centrale stationYou can take a train to Pisa from the two main Italian international airports: Milano Malpensa (MPX) and Roma Fiumicino (FCO); you arrive in Italy through Milan or Rome airports and get a train connection to Pisa.
Or you can fly to the Florence airport; then taking a bus or a taxi to the Florence train station, then travelling by train to Pisa (about 60-80 minutes).
When in the Fiumicino airoport in Rome, there is a train connection from the airporto to the Roma Termini station (The main train station in rome) every 30 minutes and the travel takes around 30 minutes. When in Roma Termini you can get a train to Pisa. When in the Malpensa airoport in Milano there is a train connection from the airporto to the Milan Centrale station (The main train station in Milan) every 30 minutes and the travel takes around 1 our. When in Milano Centrale you can get a train to Pisa. There are more than 20 trains daily from Rome (3 hr.). From Florence, 40 daily trains make the trip. Three to four trains an hour run from Livorno (15 min.); and there are trains running approximately every hour from Siena (100-110 min.). Lucca zips 24 runs here every day (20-30 min.). All trains pull into Pisa Centrale station). Recall that in Italy, before getting on the train, you must stamp your ticket by using those small yellow machines available within the station.

Getting to Pisa by car
- From Florence: A11 motorway, Pisa Nord exit, then road SS1 Aurelia in a southerly direction for about 6 km.
- From Rome, Bologna: A1 motorway to Florence, then A11 motorway, Pisa Nord exit.
- From Genoa, Rosignano: A12 motorway, Pisa Nord or Pisa Centro exit.
Please note that Pisa is a small town with several pedestrian areas. Parking is a bit of a problem and most parking areas are with pay-meters.
